A Mattel Television e a Netflix lançaram o primeiro visual de “Mestres do Universo – Revelation”, com alguns personagens conhecidos como He-Man, Esqueleto, Teela e Orko – e se parecem muito com a amada série de animação dos anos 1980 “He-Man e os Mestres do Universo ”.

Eles também anunciaram que o show vai estrear mundialmente em 23 de julho deste ano.

Desde que a série foi anunciada em 2019, os fãs têm especulado o que o produtor-executivo e showrunner Kevin Smith – diretor e roteirista de “Clerks”, “Perseeguindo Amy” e “Dogma” – estaria fazendo com a propriedade. Como as imagens deixam claro, Smith e a equipe da Powerhouse Animation (também o estúdio de animação responsável pelo seriado de anime “Castlevania” da Netflix) estão prestando homenagem não apenas à aparência do seriado original, mas também ao seu enredo.

“Revelation” continua de onde a série original parou em 1985. O primeiro episódio gira em torno de uma batalha de mudança de vida entre He-Man (voz no original por Chris Wood) e seu inimigo Esqueleto (Mark Hamill), após o planeta de Eternia ser deixado quebrado e os compatriotas de He-Man fraturados e separados. Amiga de He-Man, Teela (Sarah Michelle Gellar) – que passa pela atualização visual mais dramática da série – tem a tarefa de reunir seus velhos amigos para salvar Eternia e o universo.

Enquanto a série original era voltada para crianças, a abordagem de Smith é direcionada diretamente aos adultos que se lembram do show com carinho, incluindo o uso da linha de brinquedos Masters of the Universe da Mattel como inspiração para o visual da série.
